Interactive Decisions
Deliberation: The power of small groups
Collective intelligence has become a buzzword, with solutions and implications varying largely. Our research looks at a specific kind of collective decisions – interactive decision-making – where people deliberate in small groups. Despite the bad press of social influence, the “interactive intelligence” of small groups taps into informational and reasoning benefits, collective responsibility and perspective-taking. We measure and apply these principles in the domains of knowledge, forecasting, learning, instrumental reasoning, taste and ethics.
Social influence: Cognitive and neurobiological bases
Why is overconfidence such a persistent aspect of human interactions? We study this feature by a combination of game theory, computational interpretation of behaviour and neurobiological approaches.
